Performance and use
The Splash DAB uses two D batteries, and which should power the radio for up to 60 hours when listening to FM radio. On DAB radio you’ll get through batteries quicker. Some people prefer radios that come with a built-in rechargeable battery, while others prefer radios such as this one that take replaceable batteries.
The design is simple and unassuming. The buttons are located on the front of the radio, which makes it easier to use in the shower as you can place it at eye level.
The radio is made from sturdy plastic, and has rubber feet to prevent it from slipping. You can fix it to a wall using the included wall bracket. It’s quite large for using in the shower at 23.5 cm wide.
The radio’s single mono speaker is decent, and easily loud enough for using in the shower.
DAB reception is impressive compared to other portable digital radios.
Verdict
The Roberts Splash Digital Radio is fairly expensive, and you’re mainly paying for its weatherproof qualities. This radio is easy to use and has good DAB reception. However, if you don’t need a water-resistant radio, you can get something else with better sound quality for a similar price – see this list of the best DAB radios under £100.
