Performance and use

Lightning Dock

The Blutune65 can be used as a Lightning dock for Apple products that use a 25 pin connecter. This includes the iPhone 5, iPhone 5S, iPhone 6 and iPhone 6P, among others. It can be used to dock a newer iPod, but not an older one with a 32 pin connecter. It can charge devices even when the radio is in standby mode.

Power

This radio is mains-powered only, and comes with a standard UK plug.

Ease of use

This radio is very quick and easy to set up and use. As soon as you turn it on it will scan and find the DAB stations available in your area.

Sound quality

If you don’t like how the radio sounds at first you can adjust the bass and treble levels or use one of the preset EQ settings until it sounds better.

Reception

Like most Roberts radios, the Blutune 65 has good reception and should pick up a large number of DAB stations unless you live in a remote area.

Pros

  • Small and compact—good for the bedroom
  • Good sound quality for its size
  • Easy to set up and use
  • Connects to your phone via Bluetooth easily
  • Decent amount of volume
  • Good reception
  • Feels sturdy and well made

Cons

  • Remote control has a small range

Verdict

The Roberts Blutune 65 is a great bedside FM/DAB radio that offers good value for money (see price on Amazon). It’s easy to use, sounds good, and has some very useful features such as Bluetooth and a Lightning Dock. It’s also well made and has a good build quality.
